"Interior detail" means different things at different shops, so let's define the levels clearly — and help you figure out which one your car actually needs.
The Standard Interior Detail
This is maintenance-level care for a reasonably kept vehicle: full vacuum and compressed-air blow-out of seams and crevices, dashboard and trim cleaned and dressed, glass cleaned, mats washed, leather wiped and conditioned, and a light spot-treatment of carpets. It resets a normal car beautifully. This is the interior half of our Signature package.
The Deep Clean
A deep clean assumes the interior has real accumulation: ground-in dirt, stains, spills that soaked in, pet situations, or the aftermath of kids and years. Everything in the standard detail happens, plus hot-water extraction of carpets and fabric seats, drill-brush agitation on stubborn areas, steam on trim and vents, and pet hair removal where needed. It's measured in hours, not minutes.
An Honest Test
Look at your carpet under the floor mats, then at the mats themselves. If lifting the mats reveals a clean rectangle against gray surroundings, the interior has accumulation a vacuum can't reach. Smell is the other tell: odors that survive an airing-out live in the fabric, and only extraction gets them out.
Why Deep Cleaning Matters Beyond Looks
Carpet and upholstery are the car's filter — they hold moisture, allergens, and whatever walked in on shoes. Left long enough, that means odor at best and mold at worst. Interiors also wear faster dirty: grit ground into fibers acts like sandpaper every time someone slides across a seat.
